A bit about me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where I always had some sort of art or craft up my sleeve. After high school (where I spent the majority of my time painting), I moved away to Portland, Oregon and have lived most of my adult life across the Pacific Northwest with my husband and two children. When I’m not sewing, I’m usually hiking, reading books or crocheting — and I hope to pick up knitting soon!

My first sewing project was my daughter’s baby blanket over a decade ago. My mother-in-law showed me the basics of my machine, and from there, I googled and guessed my way through everything else. It was a long journey with a lot of mistakes and hideous projects along the way, but eventually, I figured out how to make well-constructed garments that are pretty cute to boot. I am very proud of my self-taught background, but I try to be the “sewing friend” I wish I had when I was starting out.

Once I had made my first blanket, I was immediately addicted and began selling blankets, burp cloths, bibs, etc. Eventually, I grew that business to an established handmade children’s clothing brand with my dress, romper, bow, and bloomer designs. I ran that shop (designing, sewing, fulfillment, social media, marketing, website, product photography, material sourcing, etc.) for five years before I closed it. I spent a few years in traditional corporate admin, marketing, and social media, which helped grow my business knowledge even more.

In November 2023, after years of getting requests for patterns of my self-drafted garments, I launched my first pattern: the Lane Pants. I immediately knew this was what I was meant to be doing. I now have four patterns and am blessed to support myself by patternmaking and helping others learn to sew.

Thank you x10000 for being here — I can’t imagine a better career, and you’re the reason why.
