• Brother XM2701

The cheapest and most basic model I would recommend. This is a perfectly adequate machine to start your sewing journey.

  • Brother CS5055

This machine is close to the one I learned on (now discontinued). All the basic functions you need, plus a few extras that make life easier.

  • Brother CS7000X

This would be my #1 recommendation for a starter machine if you can spend a little extra. The extra functions go a loooooong way.

  • Brother Innov-is NS80E

This is very similar to my current machine (which is now discontinued). More than you need as a starter! But it's a good upgrade if you’re looking for one.

  • Brother Serger 1034D

This is the same serger I use! It’s not a requirement for sewing your own clothes but a great tool to have if you want it.

Sewing Must-Haves

These are a few handy dandy tools I’ve used consistently over the years. They aren’t necessary for a beginner, but they sure make life easier.

Sewing Nice-to-Haves

I make quilted garments quite often, and have found these supplies to make the process a breeze.
